COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal Information is information about you that identifies you as an individual, for example, your name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number.

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us through application for membership, registration for events, and responses to surveys, search functions, questionnaires, feedback forms.

The purposes for which we collect Personal Information will be identified before or at the time we collect the information.

To be a member of BCGEHR, we collect your name, city, province/state and email address. Additional Personal Information on your member profile including, but not limited to, mailing address, photo and handbell ringing experience is optional.

Payment information is stored encrypted and secured by the Site payment processor for the purposes of reporting and automating refunds for a period of 6 months following payment. Your credit card number and details cannot be viewed nor requested by the BCGEHR Board or website administrators. 

Consent

Providing us with your Personal Information is always your choice. However, your decision not to provide certain information, such as mailing address, may limit our ability to provide you with ‘member only’ communications and opportunities.

Accuracy of Personal Information

You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of your personal information by reviewing and editing your Member Profile information on the Site. Your Personal Information will not be changed or updated by BCGEHR without your knowledge and consent.

Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention

Your Personal Information may only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected unless you have otherwise consented. Your Personal Information is accessible by the BCGEHR Board of Directors and any special committee members, such as an event or newsletter committee. Your name and city will be shared on the Membership Roster which is accessible by all active Members. You have the option to be Unlisted on the Membership Roster and to edit or remove your Personal Information at any time by logging into the Site and revising your Membership Profile information.

Optional information such as ringing experience or group information are collected and used by the BCGEHR Board and special committee members to help understand the needs of the members and to create content and events that will be relevant to the members.

Your Personal Information is retained for as long as the member is active and may remain archived after membership has lapsed. You may contact BCGEHR to request the member account and Personal Information be permanently deleted at any time.

The Site may use standard technology called "cookies" which are small data files that are downloaded onto your computer when you visit a particular web page. You can disable cookies by turning them off in your browser; however, some areas of the Site may not function properly if you do so.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18 except where such information is reasonably necessary for membership administration, participation in Guild programs, events, educational activities, or other Guild-related purposes, and where appropriate consent has been obtained from a parent, guardian, or authorized representative.

Individuals under the age of 18 should not submit personal information through the BCGEHR website or membership platform except as part of an authorized registration, membership, or program activity.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor their children's online activities and to help ensure that personal information is not provided without appropriate authorization. If you believe that a minor has provided personal information to BCGEHR in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy, please contact us. Upon receiving such notice, we will take reasonable steps to investigate and, where appropriate, delete or correct the information.
